Washing Instructions for Occulto Products
With the right care, your favorite items like socks or hats stay soft, comfortable, and durable. Here you’ll find all the important tips at a glance:
General Care Tips
Wash at a maximum of 30°C
Your textiles will be hygienically clean even at 30°C – without high temperatures. This not only saves energy but also protects the fibers. For heavier soiling, you can soak the textiles briefly beforehand or use a hygienic detergent. Our 100% cotton socks, however, can be washed at 60°C without any problems.
Sort laundry by color
Sort your laundry by color: wash whites separately, dark colors separately, and colored items together. An exception is red tones – it’s best to wash them separately to prevent dye transfer. This way, your favorite items stay looking like new for longer.
Wash new clothing before first use
We recommend washing clothing once before wearing it for the first time. A gentle wash cycle removes any production residues and ensures that the textiles feel especially soft and comfortable on the skin – particularly for sensitive skin.
Avoid ironing
Most of our products are easy to care for and do not require ironing. This means less effort in your daily routine, lower energy consumption, and gentle treatment of the materials. You save time, and your clothes stay looking great for longer.
Avoid using the dryer
The high heat of a dryer can stress the fibers and cause clothing to lose shape and quality faster. It’s gentler to let your items air dry – this way they stay in top condition longer, maintain their quality, and feel like new.
Avoid fabric softeners & bleach
Aggressive additives like fabric softeners or bleach can stress the fibers of your clothing and harm the environment. Instead, use a mild detergent to protect the materials and keep your clothes looking great for longer.
General Care Tips
You will find some of the shown washing symbols on all of our products. Depending on the item, they may be crossed out or not. If a symbol is crossed out, the garment is not suitable for that type of cleaning. To enjoy our products for as long as possible, please follow the washing symbols and the instructions on this page.

Additional Notes
Socks
- Turn inside out: Before washing, turn our socks inside out – this helps remove dirt more effectively and reduces pilling.
- Protection for delicate items: Thin sneaker socks or products made of fine materials like merino wool should be washed in a laundry bag.
- Hygiene for sports socks: Wash after each training session or intense use to prevent odor and bacteria, especially after running or cycling workouts.
- Tip: Use a mild detergent to preserve elasticity and colors for longer.
Underwear
- Delicate wash at 30°C: Gentle wash programs and low temperatures protect fabrics and seams.
- Protection for lace and elastane: Wash our briefs and thongs in a laundry bag to protect delicate fabrics and elastic.
- No fabric softener: Fabric softener can damage elastane fibers and cause underwear to lose shape faster.
- Extra tip: High-quality underwear stays soft and comfortable to wear for longer.
Thermal underwear
- Wool or delicate cycle: Choose an extra gentle wash at 30°C.
- Suitable detergent: Use a special wool or delicate detergent to care for the natural fibers.
- Proper drying: Do not wring or tumble dry – lay flat to dry to maintain shape and structure.
- Note: Thermal underwear requires less frequent washing, as merino wool naturally neutralizes odors.
Sustainability Tips
- Energy saving: Washing at 30°C instead of 60°C can save up to 70% energy per cycle – this protects the environment and your electricity bill.
- Air drying: Avoid the dryer and hang your clothes to dry in the fresh air. This saves CO₂ and helps our products last longer.
- Conscious washing: Only wash clothes when really necessary. Often airing out or spot cleaning is enough to maintain freshness.
- Durability: Invest in high-quality clothing and care for it properly – this reduces waste and costs in the long run.
- Gentle detergent: Choose detergents without microplastics or harsh chemicals to protect your skin and the environment.
